43 things.com --- something everyone should try

So what does this www.43things.com do? Well, actually this site allows you to put things (can be more than 43 things) you want to do in your life. It not only allows you to put your want to do list and you can put it to had done list after you are done. As you can see from the right, I had post my want to do list and have done list in my blog. However, if you ask me if I think this is such a good idea, I would honestly tell you that it all depends on how the users think. Some people who really care about the to do list, you can follow the list even if you write on paper. But for some who don't really care, it wouldn't matter where the list is written, it will never be accomplished. Despite how people think, this site allows you to put your list on the site so you will never lose the list (except if you forgot the site). The instructions for this site are very easy to follow, anyone who know how to use computer can easily follow them. Therefore, to me I think it is really convenience and easy to use. Overall, I would recommand people to give this site a try even if you don't really care about the list, you can always see commands on how people do something in your list. Hope you can enjoy and try to do all the 2 do things in your list. ^^ ciao

Using the podcast .... Do I Enjoy it? Check it out ^^

Hi everyone, the topic for this week is podcast. Podcast allows you to listen to all kinds of things online, including news, music, health report and more. I had chosen 3 topics to listen this week, they were piano (http://www.podcast.net/show/41690), Spanish (http://www.podcast.net/show/69294) and the analysing the phenotype and function of regulatory T cells (http://www.podcast.net/show/65563). The reasons I choice them are because I like piano, and I hope to learn some other language for my own sake, and I am biochemistry. major, so I had better know more about what I am doing. Although I really enjoy podcast, but it seems that some of the podcast are no longer available or no more update. Therefore, I feel pretty disappointed about this. The good thing about podcast is that you don't need to worry if you miss anything like TV shows or radio. Overall, I think there are still many space for improvement for podcast and I really like such idea. (ps: I tried to look for the site for the episode I listen to, but it seems there are some technical problem with the site, sorry about this, but I usually just listen to the first one provided, thx).
Beside podcast, there are other choice as well, for example, audiobook. Audiobook allows you to listen to people reading the book online. Although it takes more time when you listen to audiobook, you can always listen to them when you don't have time to read or when you can't read at that time. From our teacher's point of view, when you listen to audiobook, you can usually finish the whole book instead of stopping more often to take a break from reading the book. However, all the books are pretty old already, the book I choice was The Blue Room by Prosper Merimee. From the offering from these sites, it seems that it would be cheaper to buy a book instead of an audiobook. However, if I were to choose an offer, I prefer the second site which cost $14.95/month for one DL, $19.95-$21.95/month for 2DLs and $26.95-$27.95 for 3 DLs. Although I really like the idea of audiobook, but I would prefer reading it myself. Not because they seem to be more expansive, but I just like to hold the book to read. An exception is when I am learning the language or when I get too old to read anything, then I will buy an audiobook I like to listen. Overall, I think the idea of audiobook is great for some but not as useful for others. Therefore, it all depends on how you think and what you prefer. I can't really say much about both podcast and audiobook, but I would recommand you on trying them out, just to see if you like them. My third Creation and how I think about online generator

This week, I was told to use online generator to create at least 3 masterpiece of my own. As shown below, I had used http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/calendar.php to create my own calendar and http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/billboard.php to create my own fake photos, which were very awesome. The last one I did was as follow:

It is very easy, all you need to do is to give it a picture of your own and it will generate a new picture that is a combination of all kinds of pictures from Flickr to generate yours, as shown below. Compared to the original picture:Another site I found was http://www.buttongenerator.com/index.php?start=6, it helps you generate a button of your own. It is very useful when you are writing a homepage. There are also other sites, such as http://dmitry.baranovskiy.com/work/csc/, which helps you with making a working schedule. There are also other sites for fake name generating, company name generating, password generating, screen saver generating, etc. From the generators mentioned, they can be involved in many applications, such as the user id and password for blog. Another application is the generation of wallpaper, which sound great for blogging too. Overall, I think online generators are great, not only that they save time, but they also provide varieties of uses, which all sounds great to me. These generators are all easy to use, my favorite online generator site is http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/, because it provides with varieties of choices and most of them are useful to me. Although I didn't provide all the generator site I found, you are free to look up for them in Google. Most of these generators are free, so no worry about money. Some through after using Flickr

This is my first time using Flicker and I think it is a great place to search and share photos. In this software, not only that I can share my photo, but also the story behind the photos by typing the description. Also, I can sort my photos the way I wanted. This software uses the tagging system to sort most all the photos so that people can find them easily. The most impressive thing I saw was the sorting using calender. They sort the picture by dates they shared and placed on a calender so everyone can see what photos were shared in that month. I had found some photos that I really want to share with everyone.

This site help people to spell out the words using letters from the photo. Although it is a great idea, but I do not think it is that useful, at least for me. Since you do not usually need to spell out the words using the letters from the photos.
http://flickrvision.com/This site provides the photos that were post all around the world in the last few minutes. I think it is a neat idea. Not only that you can see the photos on the web but also you can see what your neighbors are most interested in.

This is another site that allows you to draw something you want in your color and the software will find the photos that best fit. Although it sounds interesting, however, when you use it, you will notice that most of the time you will get some werid answers. So, I do not think it is that useful.

The usage of Del.icio.us

After using del.icio.us, I think it is very useful in sharing the blogs of interest and it is also a great way to see what kinds of things people are most interested in. Compared to Technorati, del.icio.us has the similar system of finding the blogs. However, Technorati can also look for the video and pictures from the blogs and other sites. Overall I think it would be a great idea for people to use del.icio.us to find blogs and share the blogs with other people you know, however, it is not a great way to find video and pictures you want. Therefore, I prefer using Technorati in finding blogs, and del.icio.us in sharing blogs. Del.icio.us is an easy system for everyone to use, after reading my blog about it, hopefully everyone can understand the advantages of using del.icio.us. After using RSS and Technorati

Today I will be talking about the combination of blog and tagging. Tagging is a great way to put something about important about the blog to allow others to find it easily. For example, the following three blogs I choice to posted in my RSS and my blog were found using the tagging system of Technorati, they are:

I choose this blog because it talks about the movies that are showing recently from 2006-

This blog is written by a young lady who is very interested in Taiwan (food, culture,
place,and people). Since I am from Taiwan, it not only can refresh my memory of Taiwan, but

Finally, another blog I prefer is this one. In the blog, it shows a lot of songs written by
musicians and you can listen to them. It also introduce some classical music that is favored by
the author, which is a great way to know more about music. So I choose this site, and I
recommend it as the site for relaxation.
This is the first time I use Technorati. It is an online software that allows you to find the blogs of your choice and added to your favorite. The advantages of using Technorati are:
i) you can find the inform. of your choice
ii) the inform. / blogs provided to you might contain different varieties of things
iii) the varieties of things include pic., video, clips, music, other inform. and more

However, the disadvantages are:
1) the inform. provided might not contain the specific topic you wish to find
2) the inform. provided could be not true
3) the same thing with RSS, they give you a lot of inform. with different varieties

Overall, I think using Technorati is great but I would prefer using RSS, because of the truthness of the inform. provided. However, on the other hand, Technorati is a great way to see different design for their blogs, and it is also a good way to relax, by reading things other than serious news report. By the way, the tagging system of Technorati is great in blogs, but it is not as specific as I was hoping to get. Hopefully after reading my description of Technorati and RSS, everyone have the idea or a little understanding the usage of both software. Thank you for reading, enjoy the rest of your day.

Using Reader

Hello everyone, today I will be talking about my experience of using Google reader. I have not use reader before, therefore, my judgement should be more convincing to beginners. Google reader is a very useful tool for people who need to share their inform. or get their inform. daily. However, some of the web sites do not have RSS for people to share, such as gamespot.com. Therefore, I think it is a useful tool for some people only. Overall, the advantage of using RSS is that you can get inform. or share inform. of interest with others instantly; and the disadvantage is that you can only share inform. of the web site that contains RSS only. There are three ways to add subscriptions:
1) use URL of the website with RSS
2) use the keyword and find the website or inform. of interest
3) use the bundles provided after clicking "browse" and click the websites provided to add to reader.
I had added both Chinese and English news in my reader. For convenience, I also added my reader to my blog.

The thing about Blogger

Blogger is well designed software that allows people with little or no knowledge about blogging to be able to blog by themselves. However, compare to blog of msn, blogger is not as well designed. Msn blogging allows you to shift things around even when you are looking at the final product of blogging, while blogger only shows you the titles of whatever you are blogging when you are shifting. Therefore, it's not as convience as msn blogging. Also some of the colour background of blogger need to be changed in html and msn can just change by pushing the buttons. Overall, blogger is not as convience as msn blogging, therefore, I would rather use msn bloggging software instead.

Since all these words do not add up to 100, I would like to tell you more about this blog ^^. The reason why I choose to make this blog is because I am really interested in the myth in the world and other cultures in the pass that still amazes people now. One of the culture that I am interested in is the Maya culture. Although Maya did not last more than 1,000 yrs, their history shows that Maya was a great culture, because they seemed to know how to use relative values, but also vicenary. However, the disappearance of such culture also amazes many people too, why and how would such culture be gone? In order to know the answer for this quesiton, perhaps you should watch "Apocalypto" by Mel Gibson (2006).

Although this movie is filled with gross sence, it showed alot of the living and cultures of the great Maya. However, after you finished the movie, you might say to yourself "This culture is not as great as I thought after all ". In my blog, I will try to post more world mystery or myth as time goes by.
